Demi Lovato popped by VH1 HQ here in New York City earlier this week to promote her new chart-topping album, Unbroken.September’s beloved Posted artist not only took time to answer a bunch of your “Ask Demi Lovato Anything” questions, but blew us away with a brilliant Top 20 Live performance; we’ll have both of these things for you to see very, very soon! Best of all, Demi even lent us her makeup artist Joyce Bonelli, who spilled details about how she achieved Demi’s natural, desert beauty look for the “Skyscraper” video. Now that’s what friends are for! See Joyce’s 10 tips below and grab the glam look for yourself.

STEP 1: DEMI’S SKIN

I always start Demi off by prepping her skin with Perfect Skin.

STEP 2: PRIMER

I used Matt Touch Primer by YSL Beauty to prep Demi’s skin.

STEP 3: FOUNDATION

For thislook, I used High Definition Healthy FX Foundation SPF 15. This foundation provides the perfect finish for HD film, so you look fab on film or television, and in photos!

STEP 4: UNDER EYES

I use Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer by M.A.C. Cosmetics. Try blending from the outer corners in to keep concealer from settling in fine lines under the eyes for flawless coverage. The stick form makes it easy to use!

STEP 5: SET

I like to set Demi’s gorgeous skin with Loose Setting Powder by Laura Mercier, a translucent powder that mattifies the skin for a soft finish.

STEP 6: BROWS

I filled Demi’s brows in with Brow Zing by Benefit Cosmetics. I always use the lightest shade in brow products for a more natural look.

STEP 7: DEMI’S EYES

I first applied Multi-Acton Concealer by YSL to the Demi’s eye lids. I used three different shades of eyeshadow on Demi, Blaze, Chopper, & Midnight Cowboy by Urban Decay. I first applied blaze all over the lid, then I applied the Midnight Cowboy shade just above the crease and then blended down into the crease. I then added a little Chopper just under the crease and blended up until I reached the crease then blended it together with more Blaze. Limitless Eyeliner in Onyx by SMASHBOX, is what I used to line the inside of the upper and lower lash line as well as on the water lines. For this look I applied a strip lash to Demi’s upper lash lines and finished them off with Plush Lash Mascara by M.A.C. Cosmetics to make them pop. To finish off the eye, I curled her lashes using Shu Uemura eyelash curler.

STEP 8: DEMI’S CHEEKS

To give Demi’s cheeks a touch of color I first applied Blush in Pearly Baby Pink by Make Up For Ever to the apples of her cheeks. Just under the apples of her cheeks, I applied Bronzer in Laguna by NARS to the hallows.

STEP 9: DEMI’S LUMINOUS GLOW

Right above the apples of Demi’s cheeks I applied The Multiple by NARS to highlight her cheekbones.

STEP 10: DEMI’S LIPS

To define Demi’s gorgeous lip shape, I used Lip Liner Pencil in Fantasia by NARS. Lipstick in Barbarella by NARS is what I used to fill in the lip. I finished her lips with Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss in Colin-Fireman by Urban Decay to give a glossy coat.
