Demi Lovato‘s Canadian fan base was in for a special treat over the weekend when ‘Born to Be: Demi Lovato’ aired throughout the country. The heart-tugging special, similar to her MTV ‘Stay Strong’ documentary, touched on all of Lovato’s highs and lows throughout her personal life and career, including the importance of her friends and family who helped see her through a dark time in her life that resulted with the actress/singer/’X Factor‘ judge checking into rehab.

Thanks to the handy-dandy internet, some clips from the special surfaced soon after its premiere so fans all over the world could see what the sweet and talented Lovato had to share.

“I lost control of who I was,” Lovato admits in the special when talking about when she was 18 years old and became a person her friends and family hardly recognized. “I was very sick and I was performing shows on an empty stomach. I was doing a lot of things I wasn’t proud of,” she admitted. “I had kind of lost control of who I was and everything around me. I actually didn’t ask for help, but I definitely knew that I needed it.”

Lovato says she realized the treatment was working when she was starting to finish her meals “without a struggle.”

“It was a really great feeling, knowing I was doing something that was benefiting my health and well being, rather than my career. This was time for myself and it really felt amazing to accomplish goals like that. They seem silly, like finishing a meal, but for me, they were very difficult, but I was doing it and I am still doing it to this day. It changed my life forever. I am getting strong and I am unbroken.”

The worst kept secret in Hollywood has finally been confirmed: Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are joining The X Factor!

Fox officially announced at the network’s upfront presentation in New York City today that the two former Disney pop princesses will be joining Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid at the judges’ table. Spears was so excited to be a part of the show, she tweeted the very first picture of all four judges together!

So what went down at the presentation? And what did Spears and Lovato have to say about joining the show?

Fox president Kevin Reilly is banking on the revamped X Factor, saying, “The Voice hit a series low at the end of the season. I’m betting on The X Factor and here’s why.” And then, of course, Cowell, Reid, Lovato and Spears, whose X Factor hiring was first reported by E! Online, took the stage, where they were greeted with big cheers.

“Well, we delivered,” Cowell said. “This has taken a year, and I am thrilled to be able to confirm the return of L.A. Reid, and the addition of Demi Lovato and the superstar Britney Spears.”

As for The X Factor newbies, who are replacing Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger? They are more than ready to fulfill their duty of finding America’s next great star. “I’m so excited about this whole experience. It’s going to be so much fun and so different than anything I’ve ever done. I’m ready to find a true star,” Spears said.

Demi added, “I’m totally stoked to be here, because of not only the opportunity to be a judge here, but the presence of you guys. It’s just an honor to be standing next to you. I’m excited to represent my generation, and I’m ready to find the winner.”

And the X Factor panel wasn’t done knocking NBC’s The Voice just yet. “This year we are seriously going to kick butt,” Cowell promised. “The Voice is going up against us; I wish them luck, but second’s not great. We are going to make this the best series we’ve ever made.”

Teen idol Demi Lovato has officially joined the Fox hit reality series as the fourth and final judge, sources confirm to E! News.

Lovato is set to join Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and fellow newbie judge Britney Spears when the show returns in September.

While Fox isn’t commenting on Lovato’s hiring, the 19-year-old singer is expected to make an appearance tomorrow at the network’s upfront presentation in New York City. Spears is also expected to appear at the event where a formal announcement about the duo joining the show will be made.

News of Lovato officially joining the show was first reported by TMZ.

Last week, Spears finalized her deal to join the show. As we previously reported, Spears will get $15 million for one season’s worth of work.

Before Lovato signed on, The X Factor was reportedly courting fellow former Disney star Miley Cyrus, but sources told us she was never approached with an offer.

Cowell had been on the hunt for two judges to replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger since he fired them in January.

Demi Lovato has been busy singing across Central and South America on her recent tour, but she took some time off to explore Mexico – on horseback!

Along with some friends, the singer hopped in the saddle Wednesday to take in the country’s sights.

Lovato “had a special connection with her horse,” wrote William Beaman, who documented much of the ride on Twitter.

At one point, the star went riding in a line with two of her friends. “We ride together we die together!!” Beaman Tweeted.
