Demi Lovato Sets Off For Chile’s Iquique Festival

All set for her International travels, Demi Lovato was spotted making her way inside LAX Airport in Los Angeles, CA on Thursday afternoon (February 2).

The “Skyscraper” singer rocked a hot, red hairdo as she strutted past paparazzi and inside the metro terminal to board a flight bound for the South America country of Chile.

As for the reason behind her travels, Miss Lovato is lined up to take the stage on Saturday (February 4) during the Iquique Festival in Iquique, Chile.

Ending her hiatus from Twitter this past Monday to announce the concert plans, the 19-year-old excitedly wrote, “Don’t believe the hype…. All is well! SO stoked to head to Chile in a few days!!! Love all my Lovatics… MUAH! xo”

Demi Lovato is taking break from Twitter. The 19-year-old parted ways with the micro-blogging site with a tweet on Saturday.

“Can’t please everyone,” the singer wrote, adding, “Twitter break. It’s for the best actually. Who allows me to have this thing anyways?!!! I just get myself in trouble! Haha. Anyway… BYE!”

Demi has been quite open on Twitter, writing about everything from her love life to her struggles. Even during the tough times, she’s been vocal with her fans.

“Sometimes it seems like God just keeps throwing crap my way and I get SO angry with him,” she wrote earlier this month. “But there’s never a doubt in my mind He’s gonna pull me through it all. I know you’re there God. But umm… Really dude?”

Demi’s Twitter account is still active, and she made it clear that this is just a “break.” Hopefully we’ll be hearing from her soon!

Demi Lovato has begun the New Year focusing on her philanthropy.

The “Skyscraper” star’s latest Public Service Announcement (PSA) focuses on the homelessness issue among teens in the United States.

“All teens go through hard times,” Lovato says at the beginning of the commercial. “But, did you know that 2 million teens have nowhere to go at night?”

Lovato, who was nominated as one of the most involved celebrities of 2011 on DoSomething.org’s website, urges teens to get involved with the organization’s “Teen for Jeans” campaign.

“I’m donating my jeans,” Lovato continues, filled with enthusiasm. “Clean up your closet and donate yours too.”

This isn’t the first time Lovato speaks to youth.

Recently the former Disney starlet took time out of her busy schedule to be an inspirational speaker at the same facility where, just a year ago, she checked herself in for self-mutilation issues as well as eating and bipolar disorders.

“Today I went back to the treatment center I went to last year to speak to the beautiful women fighting their inner demons,” Lovato posted on her Twitter account, “to be able to share my story and let them know that it gets easier. Life is beautiful…. You are worthy of it.”

The former “Sonny With a Chance” actress called it quits on an international tour with the Jonas Brothers to take time for herself and deal with her “emotional and physical issues,” according to a statement from her representative.

Lovato claimed that rehab was “probably the darkest time in my life,” and has thanked her fans on multiple occasions via Twitter for their support throughout her gloomy situation.

“Many tears were shed and many memories were brought back at Timberline Knolls today,” Lovato said in another tweet. “Please say a prayer for all of those struggling with eating disorders, self harm, mood disorders, and substance abuse.”

Demi Lovato certainly proved she was Unbroken when she took the stage at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night (January 11). The former Disney princess dazzled the room with a spirited rendition of her song “Give Your Heart a Break.”

In a bright red dress (with matching red hair), she took the stage and belted out her Unbroken track. Instead of going flashy and over the top, the singer let the song rule the performance and kept it simple, taking the stage with just her band.

After her performance, she accepted the award for Favorite Pop Artist and had many kind words for the fans who helped her beat out the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Beyoncé.

“Thank you guys so much” she said. “This award is amazing. The nominees that I was up against are people that I look up to and aspire to be one day, and I won this award because of my fans. So I dedicate this to you guys. I love you guys so much. Without you guys tweeting so many times, I wouldn’t be up here tonight. So thank you guys so much. You guys are so amazing.”

“Give Your Heart A Break” is the singer’s second single off her album, which dropped last fall. “I think it’s grown-up, but it’s not too grown-up,” Lovato told MTV News in September. “It’s not tasteless. It’s growing up with my fans. It’s [like] I’m not a kid anymore, but I’m also not a full-grown woman either. So I’m in that in-between stage, trying to figure out where that is. So I’m figuring it out, just like my fans are.”

Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have been best friends since they were seven years old and auditioning for Barney in Texas. Now, nearly a decade later, the girls have been through their ups and downs, but remain close. In fact, Selena even wrote a revealing note dedicated to her friend, which was read to everyone at Demi’s luncheon celebration for her February Seventeen magazine cover.

Here is what the 19-year-old former Disney starlet said:

Demi, first I want to say that I am sorry that I cant be here with you today, but I just want to say first how proud I am of you. Knowing you since we were seven and watching you become the person you are is truly amazing.

The amount of respect that I have for you is indescribable. You have gone through one of the hardest chapters in your life and I praise you for wanting to share that journey and walk away from it all as a better person. Thank you for trusting me and wanting me there during that hard time. I hope you know how much I love you and how proud I am of the role model that you have become.

Demi Lovato beads it up on the February 2012 cover of Seventeen magazine.

The 19-year-old musician opened up to the magazine about the two people who kept by her side during tough times.

Demi shared, “There were two people [who were there for me]. No matter how many times we fight, we will always be in each others’ lives. [Miley Cyrus and I] are very strong-headed, so when we fight, it’s brutal and we’re like, ‘We’re never going to be friends again!’ Then two days later, we’re like, ‘I love you and I miss you!’”

“Selena [Gomez] and I, we never fight. She’s not a confrontational person at all. Both of them will never leave my life no matter what happens, because we’ve been through so much together,” Demi added of her BFF.

I cannot believe it is almost Christmas! I’m headed to Dallas in a few days so I can spend Christmas in my hometown and I am really excited. I’m also very excited to have a week off. I am going to relax and spend time with my family. When I go to Texas for the holidays I stay in my childhood room which makes me really nostalgic. I have lived in that house since I was a toddler and there are so many memories there.

I also am thrilled to head to New York City for New Year’s Eve in Times Square! I cannot believe I get to co-host MTV’s NYE with Tyler Posey and perform my new single, “Give Your Heart a Break.” I am so excited to share this song with all my fans. Also to be in Times Square watching the ball drop at midnight is surreal. I am really lucky to be in the place I am this holiday season.

Holidays can be wonderful for many people, but they can also be difficult for others. I’ve had difficult holidays myself and I hope that everyone out there who is struggling this holiday season can reach out and talk to someone about whatever hardships they may be experiencing. I also wish every single one of you a healthy and happy holiday season and amazing New Year. See you in 2012!!!
