And The O Music Awards Nominees Are…

The day that you’ve been waiting for is here. The day when we’re finally taking the wraps off of The O Music Awards 2, revealing which nominees will be battling it out in which categories for eternal digital fame.

April’s inaugural O Music Awards, which streamed live from Las Vegas’ iconic Fremont Street, garnered MTV’s second-biggest-live stream audience ever, and featured performances by Mumford & Sons, Foster the People, Lupe Fiasco, Matt & Kim, as well as a world record for the longest freestyle rap by Chiddy Bang’s Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege. The O Music Awards 2 promises to be an even more jam-packed affair. Teaser: It’s going down right here on (as well as,,, and on Halloween night. Insert joke about tricks and treats here.

As you can see below, some of the categories have remained from the first iteration of the show (like Fan Army FTW and Must Follow Artist on Twitter), but, by and large, we’ve delved into new areas of digital excellence to bring you a ton of musical freshness this time around.

Some of said freshness came from you, dear readers, in the form of five new awards generated by user submissions. We put the call out in August to brainstorm, and boy did you guys make it rain. The new, crowdsourced categories are: Oops! I Did It Online, Best Artist with a Cameraphone, Best Web Born Artist, Best Vintage Viral Video and Best Lyrics Video.

And the nominees are just as diverse at the categories. We’ve got everyone from pop princess Lady Gaga to mysterious up-and-comer The Weeknd in attendance (both tied with two nominations), as well as brainy folks like SoundCloud founder Alexander Ljung (for “Hottest Music NILF”) and hot startups, like (for “Most Addictive Social Music Service”).

Read on to see if your favorite artist made the cut, and start exercising that voting finger post haste. Click here to vote and get more info on the nominees. Voting rules are located here.
