Unbroken track with legendary duo is a jam about ‘staying up all night long,’ Demi tells MTV News.

LOS ANGELES — Demi Lovato is ready to launch the next phase of her music career. She dropped her moving ballad “Skyscraper” earlier this summer and now fans are ready to hear what else the singer has up her sleeve when she releases her album Unbroken in September.

While the album will feature a number of collabos with artists like Jason Derülo, Iyaz and Dev, one track in particular, “All Night Long,” features two of urban radio’s biggest ’90s superstars, Missy Elliott and Timbaland. Last week, Lovato spoke to MTV News and told us that working with the legendary duo, who helped shape the careers of singers like Aaliyah, couldn’t have been more of a dream come true.

“I was so stoked when I went into the studio. I was working with Timbaland, and Missy was there, and she was like, she heard one of the songs and she asked if she could rap on it,” Lovato recalled about their July recording session.

“And I was like, ‘Of course, that’s not even a question.’ And she did, and she killed it.”

According to Lovato, the party track is pretty much the polar opposite of “Skyscraper,” showing off a whole new side of the 19-year-old. “The song that Missy and I did together, Timbaland’s actually on it, too, and it’s fun,” she said. “It’s about staying up all night long and singing it to the boy that you like, and it’s flirty and fun and it’s not too grown-up, but it’s grown-up enough.”

Lovato has already started making the rounds to promote the upcoming album, including a fan meet-and-greet in Los Angeles last week and a performance at Perez Hilton’s pre-VMA party. She went on to present Best Collaboration at the VMAs on Sunday night.

Next month, Lovato will play two shows, one each in New York and one in Los Angeles.

The 2011 NCLR ALMA Awards announced Wednesday that pop star and actress Demi Lovato will perform a bilingual version of her newest single, “Skyscraper,” on the awards show airing live Sept. 16 from 8 to 9 p.m. ET on NBC. Two more performers have yet to be named by the event’s producers.

“We have Demi Lovato peforming her hit single, ‘Skyscraper,’ in English and Spanish,” one of the event’s producers and co-host, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, tells reporters on a press call.

“[It] is so exciting,” she continues. “Because it was number one on iTunes, she is one of our own, and she came up with the idea of singing partly in Spanish.”

Lovato is also nominated for Favorite TV Actress — Leading Role in a Comedy at this year’s event.

The event’s presenters include Jessica Alba, Benjamin Bratt, Eva La Rue, Mario Lopez, and Naya Rivera.

“We just have really great participation this year,” Longoria says.

George Lopez will co-host with Longoria on the awards show, which honors the work of Latinos in entertainment.

Demi Lovato sports a Heaven University tee as she finishes up a workout on Friday afternoon (August 26) in Los Angeles.

The 19-year-old actress chatted quick with MTV at her AT&T store meet and greet earlier this week — handing out advice for BFF Selena Gomez as she’ll be hosting the pre-show at the 2011 MTV VMAs.

Or lack thereof…

“I have no advice because I’ve never hosted anything in my life. But she’s great; she’ll do fine,” Demi admitted.

Selena Gomez is set to appear as our special pre-show correspondent at the 2011 Video Music Awards this Sunday. She’ll be reporting live from the black carpet when the show goes live from sunny L.A., and a slew of A-listers are set to walk the carpet and party it up at the biggest music bash of the year.

This week, we caught up with Selena’s pal, Demi Lovato, at a fan meet and greet, and she was pretty sure that Selena could handle the hosting gig without any additional words of wisdom from her. “I have no advice because I’ve never hosted anything in my life,” the “Skyscraper” singer said with a laugh.

Okay, so Demi may not have any advice for Bieber’s best gal, but she did have this to say about her Disney cohort: “But she’s great; she’ll do fine.”

But, if Selena IS looking for some advice, back in 2009 former pre-show correspondent Taylor Swift did have this to say for incoming fashion correspondent, “Twilight” star Ashley Greene:

“Don’t rehearse,” Taylor instructed. “Have a couple question for each of [the stars]. You have to have a general knowledge about what’s going on in the careers of musicians today, but you never know who’s gonna walk up.”

Hey, TayTay, that’s actually really good advice. You listening, Selena?

Unbroken indeed.

Demi Lovato has made it no secret she feels stronger than ever following her rehab stint earlier this year, but before her big album release, the “Skyscraper” singer dished to E! News about life after recovery and how BFF Kim Kardashian has been a big support.

So, what’s it really like to be back in the spotlight?

“It’s amazing,” Lovato said when asked about the thousand-plus fans who camped out to see her at the AT&T HTC Status phone launch Thursday. “I didn’t expect to see this many people out there so I was like, whoa that’s awesome. They’ve supported me through all this and it means a lot to me because they’ve been there for me when I was in treatment and when I got out.”

Speaking of support, the former Sonny With a Chance star said the biggest difference in her life post-rehab has been the people around her.

“I surround myself with people that are beneficial in my recovery and my recovery is still a daily battle and I definitely hang out with people that support me in making the right decisions,” Lovato said. “I’m a happier and healthier person today because of the choices I’ve made.”

One of those people has been the newly cemented Mrs. Kris Humphries.

“She’s been a friend of mine for a little bit and she’s like a big sister to me. So, when she got to announce me performing [at the Do Something Awards] it was really cool, and we actually got glam together,” Lovato said.

But Kim isn’t the only person in the industry to encourage the 19-year-old starlet.

“Having the support of other artists and musicians and actors is really incredible and I’m thankful for that. I’m thankful to have that kind of support from people I look up to.”

And while she was on hand to launch the HTC Status (the first phone with a Facebook share button), Lovato went on to dish on what the name of her album means to her.

“Unbroken is basically me and who I am today,” Lovato continued. “I’m unbroken and after everything I’ve been through I’m still standing strong, like a skyscraper,” Lovato continued.

Unbroken, which hits stores September 20, will feature collabos with Jason Derulo and Timbaland, among others.

Almost a year after going into treatment for physical and emotional issues, Demi Lovato is making a serious comeback, starting with her new album ‘Unbroken!’

Whenever news breaks in Hollywood that a young star has to leave the spotlight to deal with an addiction, emotional or physical problem, everyone starts wondering if they’ll ever make it back to the limelight. For 19-year-old Demi Lovato, there was never a question if, but when she’d get back to work in a better frame of mind. As she continually works on her recovery, the “Skyscraper” singer is standing strong and thanking her fans for where she is today.

Demi chatted with E! News at a recent meet and greet in Santa Monica about her support system of loyal fans.

“They’ve supported me through all of this and it means a lot,” she said. “They’ve been there for me when I was in treatment and when I got out. Now they’re supporting the new single “Skyscraper” and the new album, “Unbroken,” that comes out Sept. 20. They’re promoting the crap out of it and we’re so excited.”

Speaking of ‘Unbroken,’ Demi shared some secrets about the highly anticipated album.

“‘Unbroken’ is basically me and who I am today,” she said. “I’m unbroken. After everything I’ve been through, I’m still standing strong like a skyscraper. “Unbroken” was my favorite song on the record so I decided to name the album [that]. I have a lot of awesome collaborations. I have collaborations with Jason Derulo, Iyaz, Missy Elliot, it’s going to be a great record.”

To keep herself on the right track as her career takes off again, Demi says she’s being careful who she hangs out with.

“I surround myself with people that are beneficial to my recovery and my recovery is still a daily battle,” she said. “I definitely hang out with people that will support me in making the right decisions and I’m a happier healthier person today because of the choices that I made. It’s amazing having the support of other artists, musicians and actors. Having that respect from them is really incredible. I’m thankful to have that kind of support from people that I look up to.”
