Demi Lovato is taking over the Disney Channel airwaves. Last year, she starred alongside the Jonas Brothers in “Camp Rock,” and now the teen star is getting her very own show. She’s using her successful music career as a jumping-off point to let her fans know that pretty soon she’ll be “Sonny With a Chance.”

“We just released the video [for the single ‘La La Land’], which is promoting my show,” she said of “Sonny,” which premieres February 28. “It really describes the show. I’m excited about that.”

Lovato likens “Sonny With a Chance” to another “show within a show.” “The show is actually a sitcom. It’s the Disney version of ’30 Rock,’ ” she said of the show’s premise. “On that show, we have a rivalry with another show, and there’s so many, like, crazy plot lines. I play this girl who comes to L.A., or Hollywood, and is kind of thrown into all this madness.”

According to Lovato, her character, Sonny, is a lot like her. She’s a small-town girl who finds fame and fortune in Los Angeles. “And she’s, like, this little Midwestern or Wisconsin girl I kind of can relate to,” said Lovato, who performed for the Obama girls at the “Kids’ Inaugural: We Are the Future” concert in Washington, D.C., on Monday. “I’m from Texas and I’m thrown into this [thing that’s like], ‘Whoa everything is awesome.’ It’s really interesting.”

Lovato also has support from her pal and “Princess Protection” co-star Selena Gomez, who told that she’d love to share some screen time with her friend. “We’re working on [a cameo],” Gomez said. “We’d love to have Demi on [‘Wizards.’] And I’d love to be a guest star on her show.”
