The show is about a teenage girl, played by Demi Lovato, who is given the chance to join the cast of a popular teenage soap opera featuring her teen idol. The show is set to premiere in the February or March 2009 season on The Disney Channel.

“Music Review: Demi Lovato – Don’t Forget” - Read More

Demi Lovato went from flirting scenes with Joe Jonas in Camp Rock to releasing her brand new CD, Don’t Forget in only a matter of months. She sings in Camp Rock, but her voice on her new CD is a lot more edgy and the CD has a rock image. My sister and I closely associate the CD with Canadian Singer, Skye Sweetnam (“Tangled Up in Me,” “Number One,” “Billy S.”) Demi sings under Hollywood Records, as does Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers. Demi and Miley have similar sounds, but Demi’s definitely got my vote.

Demi does a duet (With two extras?) with the Jonas Brothers in “On the Line.” Anything the Jonas Brothers sing is automatically good, but Demi definitely adds a special touch. This song is nothing like Joe Jonas and Demi’s “This Is Me.” Instead it has more of a rock edge. Very, very sweet song. I’m glad Demi paired up with them. Now, if she could only do a duet with best friend, Selena Gomez of Wizards of Waverly Place …

I really enjoyed track one, “La La Land.” Not only are Demi’s vocals good, but the song has very amusing lyrics that makes her fans relate to her. For example, the first three lines you hear are “I am confident but I still have my moments/Baby, that’s just me/I’m not a supermodel. I still eat McDonald’s.” Her vocal range varies and it produces a great song.

The song that made me break down and buy the CD was the single, “Get Back,” which I saw on Youtube. Rumor has it that it’s about her ex, Cody Linley (Hannah Montana) but she denies it. Very powerful, exciting. Another song Demi totally rocked on.

“Gonna Get Caught” is another good song. It reminds me of a guy that I used to know; so, I would definitely say Demi connected to me in this song. She likes this guy and the guy’s playing her and she figures it out. Now, if only I had this song, when I was going through this crises. I cannot think of anyone better to sing this song. Demi does it perfectly. Yeah, it’s totally my number one.

Other songs include: “Trainwreck,” “Party,” “Don’t Forget,” “Two World Collide,” “The Middle,” “Until You’re Mine,” and “Believe In Me.” I like every single song.

It’s a very danceable album and extremely good. I do recommend buying it for anyone who likes the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus. But teen queen Miley better look out, she now has Demi Lovato on her tail.

Next up for Demi is her new Disney show Welcome to Mollywood. In it a teenage girl becomes a fish out of the water when she moves to L.A. to film a TV show. There’s also rumors for a second Camp Rock.

What artists have influenced what you do as a musician?

I think Kelly Clarkson. Also Paramore. They have a great sound. The Jonas Brothers co-wrote and produced six of the songs and they had a lot of input, so they influenced the album.

You recently turned 16. What was the party like?

I didn’t really throw a party. I went to Applebee’s with my band.

Really?

Yeah, I love Applebee’s. On the day of my birthday, I had a concert so 18,000-20,000 were singing happy birthday to me. It was awesome.

When you’re being tabbed as the next Miley Cyrus or the next Jonas Brothers, how does that affect you?

I’m not allowed to read some of the gossip sites because they really take a toll on you. So I don’t see a lot of that. I like to focus on what I’m doing. I’m just having a good time right now.

What’s it like so far starring in your own series, “Welcome to Holliwood”?

It’s very crazy. I was nervous in the beginning. It’s hard to carry a comedy show. If you’re not funny, the show is not going to be funny. I’ve never had a lot of confidence in comedy, but I’ve really let loose and totally had fun with it…
